Lori + Nate's downtown Columbus library engagement shoot | Wedding photography Columbus Ohio
If you haven’t been to the downtown Columbus public library since they renovated, you need to plan a trip. They have a whole reading area with floor to ceiling windows and more modern touches. And it looks out on to the Topiary Gardens. It’s truly beautiful.
For Lori and Nate, when deciding on a location for their engagement session, they seemed drawn to the architecture of the main library, so we chose to stay in the older area with marble and ornate staircase details, and a few art displays. It was beautiful and simplistic and made it easy to highlight our couple and their love.
Being in March, it was really great to have an indoor space to work, since we didn’t know what the weather was going to be like. However, it is a library, and though I do think we’re obnoxious by any means, I did have to keep reminding myself to keep it down when we’d be chatting during pose changes, or when someone would crack a joke and we’d explode with laughter. Especially in the stairwell where everything we said was echoed. Other than that, these love birds made my job easy because they were super cuddly, no matter what pose I put them in, they’d kind of melt into one another, looking into each others’ eyes, kissing, nuzzling, all the things I usually have to tell couples to do. And even when I pushed the boundaries a little by dangling her engagement ring on the banister on the third floor, Lori trusted me- and it was worth it. Just look at that ring shot. Love it!
Despite worrying about bothering other library-goers, we had a great time with our couple. We hope you love your photos Lori and Nate, and we can’t wait for your wedding in May at WatersEdge Event & Conference Center.
